Changelings
Edited by George Wilhite

From Wikipedia: A changeling is a creature typically described as being the offspring of a fairy, troll, elf or other legendary creature that has been secretly left in the place of a human child. The child might be taken for varying reasons: to act as a servant, the love of a human child, or malice.

For this anthology, I am interested in variations on this legend. If you want to stick with fairies, trolls or elves, that is okay, but I would also like some original “legendary creatures” of your own design.

Any genre, time period or setting works as long as you are working with the central idea. (Aliens swapping for our kids? Why not?) I prefer dark tales but straight fantasy is fine as long as there is some kind of a twist, not just a fairy tale retelling, etc.

Send submissions to geojazz@sbcglobal.net with “Changelings” in the subject line. Please send one story at a time. I will consider multiple stories from a single author if you are sending flash, but still please only send one at a time.

No minimum word count. I prefer stories up to 5000 words but will consider any length. Query first for longer works. Reprints are fine as long as you hold all the rights.

Poetry accepted as well--no length restriction--just don't go crazy. (i.e. if it's over three pages, please query)

Acceptance offers exposure only--no payment or contributor's copy.

FORMAT:

Please send submissions like this: Title, name, content, bio. The bio must be at the end of the story in the manuscript. Single space, indented paragraphs (do not indent first paragraph), and no space between paragraphs. Times New Roman, Courier, or Georgia fonts preferred. Scene breaks should be shown with a CENTERED ***

Also, if you have not submitted to a Static Movement anthology before, please check out Chris Bartholomew’s guidelines at:

The Claw of the Crow That Bit Him, a novella by father and son writers Ken L. Jones and Kevin L. Jones, has been accepted. This is a great story which includes an excellent evocation of the sixties. Nice work, guys--thanks for the boost to the word count.

A NOTE TO THOSE SENDING SUBMISSIONS TO MY ANTHOLOGIES: I have three anthologies in editing, so I will be giving that task priority. I may not get back to as soon as I normally do, but you will still hear back within a couple of weeks max
Thanks
