Night Hunters Edited by Danielle Rose
With the rise in vampire lure, it’s the perfect time for a vampire anthology. In these stories, I’m more interested in character-driven plots. Your character can be traditional in every way or can be a modern adaptation of the historical killer. Is your vampire pure evil or still living in the romanticism era? Or is your character not a vampire at all? As long as your story revolves around vampires, it’ll fit. I want stories with victims, killers, and slayers, so play with the theme.
Guidelines:
Length – Stories in the 2,500- 4,500 range have the best shot of getting in but anything from 1,000-7,500 is okay.
Content – Sex, blood, and gore are fine as long as they serve the story. I don’t want anything gratuitous or intended to shock the audience.
Format – Please attach your story as an rtf, doc, or docx file. Single space with indented paragraphs. No headers, footers, page numbers, or embedded text. Please include a 50-word third-person bio after your story.
How to send – Please submit all stories to SMsubmissions (at) hotmail (dot) com. Include your cover letter in the body of the email. In the subject line of the email, please write the name of the anthology you’re submitting to.
Simultaneous submissions are great. Reprints are great, too, just let me know who published it first.
I will try to respond within a week. If you haven’t heard anything within four weeks, please query.
This is a non-paying market.

looks good, Danielle! Every good wish. Currently the flood of short stories has dried up (after 18 months!) and I am involved in history once more, but you never know, the muse might kick in again!

I have an unpublished 6,800-word vampire story, but it's still submitted at NorGus Press (close to a year now and they seem to be in no hurry about the anthology I submitted it for there). If "Beware the Sundown Curfew" misses out there or I grow tired of waiting and withdraw the story, I'll send it in to Night Hunters. Honestly, this story has been harder to get accepted than any other vampire fiction I've written.

M.V. Montgomery's short story, "Beyond the Pale," has been accepted into the anthology. It's a great first addition!
